And it was about time.
I’ve been known both as a marketing and social media fanatic, as well as a gadget freak and technology lover. This is a particularly dangerous combination for a number of reasons, the most important one being the fact that when you combine all the above you end up with no limits. Boundaries just suddenly disappear and the posibilities are endless.
At the core of what you see every day when you open up your laptop, desktop or smartphone is a complex and intrigate infrastructure, the very foundation of communication as you know it, hardware and software. And all this needs someone to be there and babysit.
And this is exactly what hosting companies and telco’s are all about: making sure that this infrastructure runs like clockwork, so you can focus on your daily routine, emails, projects, business development & communication and much, much more. It’s
Face it, you need to know that there’s someone in charge and taking care of it all. You need that resting sleep, wake up reassured, realizing that it all just works and go about your day. You need to feel safe.
And ever so often you expect progress, more possibilities, more freedom, more innovation. And in the hosting industry progress and innovation is hard to find. And it’s even harder to find those that have a vision and a will to push things further. But the hardest is to discover those that actually take a step forward and act on their vision and desire to improve and change things. But they do exist.
One of those people is Horia Vasiliu. A man of many talents, an impecable businessman, a loyal friend of those who earn it and a tough pill to swallow for all those that dare cross him in any way, shape or form. A man that drives progress.
And he runs Webfactor, which I’m going to simply call for now, a Romanian hosting company. I’m not going to say that it’s the leading, or the best or furthermore (and this is my personal favorite), the industry-leading and professional-class company.
No.
If you want to call Webfactor all the above, it’s your choice and they’ll take it with a smile. Because Webfactor is about you and your needs. Because at Webfactor people come first and they take care of their own.
And that is why when Horia hit me up with a call a few months ago for a project I said “sure, I’ll do it” and that is why a few days ago I’ve accepted his offer to become his Chief Marketing & Communications Officer.
In case you are wondering (and I know you are), I will continue to be actively involved with (INC)3 since not only the two go seamlessly together, but I’m also actively supported in doing so.
So there you have it, no big grand finale, but rather a heartfelt story of how, after roughly a year or so of leaving my position as EVP of SimpliQ I have returned to my old love, to the very heart of all that powers the Internet.
